In addition to heading to the mall, there is something else I only do in Rochester, even if it means I have to suffer a few months of a wild, bushy browline. Weeks before I make a visit home, I book an appointment with The Brow Diva.
My sister and I first visited Deanna Netti Cahill over decade ago where she sculpted our brows for Lisa’s wedding out of a small room in a hair salon. We became faithful clients and followed Deanna to her own studio, where she quickly took on more clients and gained more attention as the one and only Brow Diva. Since then she has expanded her own makeup line, taken on apprentices for sculpting, and made visiting her studio such a welcoming, personal experience that I make sure to immediately book an appointment with her for the time I am home the same day I book a flight home. Seconds after I confirmed our wedding date last year, I dialed The Brow Diva and made sure I would be able to see her the week prior. If she had been unable to see me–I probably would have considered rescheduling our wedding.
Everyone that visits Deanna regularly is part of a little cult following–a very well groomed one.
So I don’t splurge on manicures or pedicures–in fact I hate how they feel, and I’ve never had my hair “done,” I don’t buy expensive makeup, and there isn’t really any other physically altering regiment I indulge in, but my eyebrows are well cared for. Except for that last meantime month between visits home…but I have bangs for that.
